The week of July 16th is Disability Voter Registration Week in Texas. The Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities (GCPD) encourages all Texans with disabilities to make sure you are registered to vote so your voice can be heard.

In his proclamation Governor Greg Abbott writes, “the disability community has a critical interest in policies enacted at local, state, and national levels that effect people with disabilities, young and old. Therefore, ensuring Texans with disabilities are involved in shaping public policies is essential if these policies are to meet the real needs of the disability community.”

“Therefore, I, Greg Abbott, Governor of Texas, do hereby proclaim July 16-20, 2017, to be Disability Voter Registration Week.” Read the full text of Governor Abbott’s Disability Voter Registration Week proclamation on the Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities’ website.
